The scrapbooking craze has taken Penrith by storm and two local ladies have pooled together their ‘crafty’ talents to organise the inaugural Crafty Girlz Lazy Day – Scrapbooking Charity Retreat right here in Penrith on Sunday August 23rd 9am–4pm.
Kellie Lopez and Michelle Dawson from the Australian company Kaszazz, have 5 children between them ranging from 12 years – 8months. They have been inspired to help the charity Cure Our Kids , after Michelle helped a family friend who had a sick child.
“ We wanted to use our love for papercraft and scrapbooking to generate interest in a charity event here in Penrith”, Kellie says. “ Cure Our Kids help many families who have children in the Oncology Ward at Wetsmead Hospital. They are also raising money and awareness of the Bereavement Counselling sessions that they are able to provide with the help of donations and fundraising events such as ours.”
“What better way to raise money than by holding the first ever Crafty Girlz Lazy Day – Scrapbooking Charity Retreat! Many ladies like to relax on a Sunday completing craft projects. A fantastic opportunity to be inspired by craft AND raise money for the Cure Our Kids charity“
Kellie has previously been published in craft magazines and Michelle has won awards for her work. Both ladies are accomplished and trained scrapbooking teachers with 10 years experience between them. Participants are in capable hands on the day and for a $65 donation they will complete two workshops as well as be able to scrapbook at their own leisure, as the day describes. Lunch and refreshments are provided. Lucky door prizes, raffles and a silent auction are also on the cards to raise money for this worthwhile event.
Held at the South Penrith Scout Hall on Glenbrook St, the day promises to be fun-filled and exciting. Kellie and Michelle are also looking for interested sponsors for this inaugural event. They cannot wait to meet the ‘Crafty Girlz’ in the Penrith area while helping them create great layouts AND raising money for Cure Our Kids!
For further details call Kellie 0414 841 860 or Michelle 0408 287 773
