A Development Application is expected to be submitted to Penrith City Council by the end of the year. AMP Capital Property Development Officer, Vanessa Walker, attended a meeting of the Glenmore Park Action Group and confirmed that progress was being made in relation to the expansion. “We’re now moving forward,” she said.
Ms Walker said research had revealed that shoppers wanted competition to Woolworths to be included in the centre were keen for a store such as Big W.
GPAG has been consulted in relation to the design of the new centre. “Glenmore Park Town Centre is a really nice community based centre, and we really want to make sure it retains that town centre role,” Ms Walker said. In answer to a local resident’s question, she said “best case scenario we expect to commence the expansion of the shopping centre by 2011”.
Several members of the community brought up the issue of the road, Town Terrace, running through the centre and its potential pedestrian dangers. GPAG Director, Mary Cook asked the meeting to vote and 100% were against the road staying as part of the extension.
If you have any suggestions or concerns that can help with the submission please contact Mary Cook at email@gpag.info or visit the website www.gpag.info for more information and updates.
